November 01, 1955
Sam Phillips sold his contract with Elvis Presley to RCA records for $35,000
November 01, 1956
Elvis bought a new Harley Davidson. Accompanied by Nick Adams on the old motorcycle, Elvis took Natalie Wood for a ride.
November 01, 1958
Elvis is dubbed “public enemy number one” by Russian leaders; actress Venetia Stevenson flies to Germany to see Elvis. Elvis’ records were banned in Russia during Elvis’ lifetime.
November 01, 1960
Fred Woodward, a local police inspector and personal friend of Elvis had a fatal heart attack. When Elvis heard the news he rushed into the hospital and tried to comfort the widow. "He was a great guy, a good friend" he said, obviously distraught.
November 01, 1962
Elvis flies home to Memphis from Hawaii, and spends three weeks at Graceland.
November 01, 1966
The RIAA certifies the LP Elvis Presley as a Platinum Disc after it has sold a million copies.
November 01, 1969
"Suspicious Minds" hit the Hot 100. The single would be Elvis's last U.S. #1.
November 01, 1970
Elvis spent a final weekend in Palm Springs before going out on the November tour.
November 01, 1971
Elvis flew to Washington D.C. to visit Joyce Bova. He was accompanied by Sonny West and James Caughley. He checked into the Hotel Washington using the name Jon Burrows.
November 01, 1972
Elvis and Linda returned to Los Angeles.
AND
Elvis on Tour opened to good reviews and good box office performance in theaters. The film covered Elvis' shows from April 5th-April 19th. Later, its producers received the Golden Globe Award for "Best Documentary of 1972". Like other Elvis films it will have a life on television and on home video.
November 01, 1973
Elvis was released from the Baptist Memorial Hospital. Somewhere during this week Elvis and Linda went to Sam Thomson's parent's house. They spent the evening relaxing and singing blues numbers, as well as other old favorites like I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry and Spanish Eyes. Elvis and Linda even sang a duet together, which was taped by Sam Thompson.
November 01, 1976
Elvis spent much of the next 3 weeks flying back and forth between Memphis, Denver, Palm Springs and Dallas.
